Modern Mom Challenge - Week #3

Conferences are not a place to be on a diet.

Breakfast consists continental style ... muffins, quiches, croissants, cereals. No fruit. No oatmeal. The healthiest thing to eat is yogurt. Lunch is not much better ... carbs, carbs and more carbs. Dinner at least has vegetables and salad, but those calories are quickly replaced by all of the butter they cook the food in and the flowing wine and beer.

dinner for a winner

We sit all day listening to people talk about the future of our product and company, how to negotiate and the best of the web as our butts mold and flatten to the seats we are perched on. The only exercise we got is the walking to and from the conference center (and the hours of dancing at the very end of the long day).

I thought for sure when I weighed myself today I would have packed on more pounds. So, you can imagine the shock on my face when I saw that I had lost 3 lbs! I guess all of that dancing paid off! I also haven't had a cup of coffee from the moment I got off the plane in South Carolina until Thursday morning when sleep deprivation got the best of me. I didn't snack in between meals simply because I didn't have time.

So, maybe conferences are a good place to be on a diet ... only if you aren't afraid to dance like a fool in front of your co-workers!

  1. I want to be able to eat meals that look like that and dance it off. I need a job, obviously. ;)

Yay, for weight loss! Now. Hopefully yoga will be back in regular sessions.

  2. I dread conferences for the same reason - I usually eat too much of the "bad stuff." I've learned to be a bit of a food nerd though and usually hit up the local grocery store for some healthy alternatives so I'm not eating too much of the conference food.

  3. Good for you!! Way to go!

Sounds like you had a good time. I bet you were the best dancer on the floor. :)

  4. Wow! That's fantastic... I can never resist from indulging at conferences. Three pounds is amazing!

  5. Congrats! And...oh my! That looks YUMMY!

  6. Dancing definately pays off. One would think that is more damaging than it's not.

  7. Well, if you ask me that food looks DELISH! Didn't you know that calories you consume outside of your own zip code don't count? ;-)

  8. I also danced like a fool in front of my co-workers and came back lighter. Too bad I got caught on video! :-) It was fun though.
