Modern Mom Challenge - Week #4

Unfortunately this past week proved to be busier than I had planned. I did not get to yoga, I broke my bedtime almost every night and had Starbucks during the week. *sigh* I was good at eating my greens and limiting my chocolate intake. The result 4 lbs lost!

Last year I was really unhappy with my appearance. I remember looking in the mirror one day and I didn't even recognize myself. I shied away from the camera ... found comfort behind the lens instead of in front of it. Today I see pictures of myself from last year and I look like a totally different person. There are still so many things I hate about my appearance ... height, weight, skin, stretch marks, saggy breasts, etc.

When I signed up for the Modern Mom Challenge I noticed a forum that asked what is your favorite thing about yourself. I had a really hard time coming up with anything. Then yesterday a darling friend of mine challenged me to think of 3 things I like about my appearance. It was agonizing trying to come up with anything, but I did and I am adding on. So, here is this week's 5 random things (I like) about me from head to toe:

36) My lips. When I was born the doctor said my lips look like rosebuds. They are full, but now have freckles. Due to my sensitive skin I never wear lipstick so my freckles are always exposed. I have had people tell me I have chocolate or dirt on my lips. I like my freckled lips ... they are unique.

37) My eyelashes. They are actually quite straight, so I have to curl them every day or else I look really sleepy. If I am going on a trip where I know I will be in the water a lot I get them permed so I don't have deal with them. What I like about them is that they are long, dark and thick. Mascara is not a necessity every day and when I do wear it I don't really need to wear eyeliner (but, I do anyway).

38) My cheekbones. They are high and defined. Enough said.

39) My hands. Specifically the nail bed. They are large and so I don't really need to have long nails which is good because they are constantly breaking. Additionally, they are very oily so nail polish does not stay on, but they are always shinny so there really is no need for polish.

40) My feet. They used to be smaller. After pregnancy my feet grew half a shoe size. They are shaped nicely and with nice toe nails too. I love wearing flip flops so I try to take really good care of my feet since they are exposed all the time.

Not a bad list after all! Thank you to my friend who challenged me ... you are truly a beautiful person inside and out.

So, tell me what are the 5 things you really like about your appearance.

  2. I too have a freckled mouth. I think it adds to your beauty. You are so beautiful on the inside and out. Gosh, I wish I had your feet. I always want to hide mine, but we live in San Diego, so fasion usually surpasses vanity.

  3. I have to agree with Jistacatt; a freakled mouth adds to your beauty. My girlfriend has that and in my eyes, she is perfect!

Everyone should be proud of who they are and how they look because everyone is beautiful to someone! (",)

  4. Girl you are just beautiful. But I know how we are more critical of self. I am so happy that you have taken the time to identify the things you love about yourself.

  5. Oh wow - I love that you can name things about yourself that you adore without seeming vain or arrogant. It's very honest and refreshing - especially because more often than not it's easier to tell the bad about ourselves than the good :)

    Go you, gorgeous chicka!

  6. You are gorgeous! I know how you feel, though, to decide to be on the other side of the lens for a year (or three).

Permed eyelashes? Never heard of it until today!

  7. Your eyes are nice too, both of them.

I'm not an appreciator of my own form, but then again, I don't have to look at it.

  9. What a great post! I agree with a previous poster, it was really refreshing to hear someone appreciate their good qualities.
However, please talk more about perming your eyelashes. That is something I have never heard of ;)

  10. The thing with your lip reminded me of the mole I have on the skin right below my eye. It isn't below my eye, but it is pointing up towards my eye and not out away from my skin. (I'm not sure how to describe it very well.) People tell me all the time I have something on my eye and if I go to wipe whatever it is away on my other eye they will say that it is the eye with the mole. Then I end up having to explain that it's a mole. They usually ask me if I can see it. (No. I can't see it.) Also, I have never heard of permed eyelashes before. I do like my eyelashes. They are longish and curly on thier own which is nice.

  11. About the only thing I really like about myself is my eyes - their colour and shape. I like my hair colour (when it's natural) on other people, but not me. I guess I kind of like my long fingers, too - I was meant to play more music than I have, I think.

  12. Great post! Nice feet!

I like my nose and my height (I'm 5'9"), although my husband doesn't always like it - he's 5'10 or so, so I can't wear high heels a lot!
