The Written Word

Say it straight, simple and with a smile.
~ Yogi Bhajan

Writing on a public blog is has an interesting dynamic. There are people reading your posts who don't know you personally and then there are your friends and family. You are constantly tip toeing around what you write and how you write it so as not to offend, give away too much personal information, air dirty laundry, stay true to yourself all while trying to be interesting.

What I have found is that what people read they internalize ... How does my life relate to theirs? Has what has happened to me happened to them? Do they know someone that is going through what I am going through? Can they commiserate with me? Does what I describe strike a chord? Have I mentioned something casually that actually makes them self conscious about their own behavior? Every reader takes away something different than the reader before them. This leaves what I write open for a lot of interpretation. I have been praised, thanked, criticized and accused of airing dirty laundry. What I write is real and from my heart, but it does not include all of the details ... those I keep for myself.

So this year I will continue to express my self in the best way I know how. If you love what I write, if you connect with my experiences, if my words inspired you then I have done much much more than I ever expected I would do with my little blog. What I write is for me to heal, discover and grow into the woman and mother I want to be.
