desert r&r

This past month has been exceptionally rough for me. So, this past weekend some of my friends and I got together in Arizona for some much needed (and deserved) rest and relaxation.

The first night was spent sitting around the outdoor fire place consuming 4 bottles of red wine and talking until 3am. I don't know the last time I have done that. I didn't have to worry about being woken up in the middle of the night by Little 'Ny wanting to crawl into bed with me. I slept in (8am ... yes, that is sleeping in for me). I did have a little bit of a hangover, but nothing that a little Advil couldn't take care of.

Saturday after nursing my hangover lounging around the house in our pjs all morning we headed over to a spa for massages, a dip in the mineral pool and relaxing in the hot tub. We followed it up with a really nice dinner with (of course) an amazing bottle of wine.

Arizona is so different from Southern California -- sand, rocks, cacti, flat land, adobe style homes, and the wild javelinas. It felt like we were in another world. The weather was pleasant, but I couldn't imagine living there during the summers with 120 degree temperatures.

I must say that the sunsets are beautiful there.

But, there is nothing that compares to my fantastic friends. Thanks girls for the amazing weekend.

  3. One day I'll be able to do something like that too. My kids are still small (1 and 3), but as soon as they're old enough, I want to take off on a getaway like that. Sounds like so much fun!
