no longer at square one (potty train update)

As you know we have been working on potty training Little 'Ny. After a very successful day last week we had a bit of a set back. I got too ambitious by sending her to school in her new Little Mermaid undies with 4 pairs of back up clothes. Sure enough she soaked everything. By the end of the day she was back in diapers and refused to sit on the potty, and by the weekend she was terribly constipated.

Back to square one ... but, that didn't stop me! This weekend I stocked up on Gerber Vinyl Pants.

When I picked her up from school today she said she wasn't feeling well and was cold. For some reason when we had gotten home I asked her if she wanted to wear her undies. Surprisingly she said yes. So, I put her in her Dora the Explorer undies and Gerber Vinyl Pants. We have a "piddle pad" that I took home from the hospital, so I put that on the sofa for some extra protection.

When we were getting dinner ready I noticed that she was squirming and it looked like she was going to cry. I asked her if she had to go potty and she said "No, I sit on Mommy's lap." I quickly took her to the big potty and placed her on her trainer seat. She didn't want to let go of me, so I crouched down in front of her and hugged her tight. After about 10 minutes like this my legs had gone numb and she had done nothing.

About 20 minutes later at the dinner table she started squirming in her booster seat and had the same expression on her face as she did earlier. Again, she asked to sit on my lap. I picked her up and told her that if she was too scared to go in her potty we would not be upset if she "went" in her pants. That was not an option in her mind. So, I asked her if she wanted me to put her in a diaper so she could "go." She said "yes." I told her to sit on her little potty while I got her diaper. Next, thing we hear was a thumping noise in her potty ...

SHE DID IT ... LITTLE 'NY POOPED IN THE POTTY!

We of course rewarded her with M&M's and stickers. I think she was so shocked at what happened that she peed in her undies about 15 minutes later! Oh well ... at least we are no longer at square one!
