Living in San Francisco I saw an esthetician religiously, but since moving down to San Diego in 2003 I haven't been consistent with my upkeep. Plus, over the past year I have developed eczema on my face which makes waxing a bit more difficult. The topical steroids cause my skin to thin out, so when you rip hot wax off my upper lip a thin layer of skin would come off too.
One of my friends recommended Beehive Waxing Salon. It is a slight drive for me, but they have a woman who does threading. If you have never seen or heard of threading it is something you would never believe could remove hair. But, it works and is so much more gentler than waxing.
It has been a couple of month since I had gotten waxed, so the woman who did my treatment was able to reshape my brows. I think she did a pretty darn good job:
As for my upper lip ... it is hairless and isn't showing a sign of irritation! (Sorry, no before or after photos of that embarrassing feature.)
As for Beehive Waxing Salon it was worth the drive. The salon is in decorated beautifully with lots of fun things to buy. The prices are incredibly reasonable. I have already made my next appointment! If you live in San Diego I highly recommend this place ... and let them know I sent you!
Tomorrow I am getting my hair cut and colored ... so stay tuned!
Yay for not being a man beast anymore!
ReplyDeleteYou have eye brows I would LOVE to have..they look PERFECT!!! Yah to fun beauty stuff!
ReplyDeleteYour eyebrows look FANfreakingTASTIC, friend! And about the other hair ... uhm ... yeah ... I understand.
ReplyDeleteLooks good! You failed to mention it still hurts like waxing. Ahh, but you have to take some pain to be beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the Beehive! BTW, I did go and get my lashes permed! It looked fantastic, though the aesthetician said it should last 5 - 6 weeks and for me it is probably more like 4. The place is seriously cute and they are a reat group of girls there!
ReplyDeleteThreading will be on my list of things to try in 2009. I usually just tweeze because I'm to cheap to do the salon thing, but I'll have to try it. Looks so awesome!
ReplyDeleteThreading hurt me more than waxing does. But I get why you did it.
ReplyDeleteBrows look FAB girl!
And men think we are naturally hair free and pretty lookin'. LOL. I don't go to a salon to deal with minor lady facial hair, but I deal with it once or twice a month. Thank goodness for tweezers.
ReplyDeleteThreading is the BEST! I go to a woman named Seema at the Union Street Apothecary and she's amazing at it!!
ReplyDeleteWow, great story...now I see where you get the great hair from. I like the new style a lot. Change reveals your willingness to be creative. Love it!
ReplyDeleteThose look fabulous! But where is the single, arched brow, hmm?
ReplyDeleteYour eyebrows look gorgeous!! Weehaw!!
ReplyDeleteI have heard of threading but haven't found anywhere around here that does it.
I've never tried threading, but will consider it. You see, I'm very pale with dark hair and a gal-stache :( I bleach, wax, etc. but I haven't been terribly happy with those. Must be time to try threading!
