teeth today, gone tomorrow

"Teeth" seems to be the theme in our home this week.

For the past week Little 'Ny seemed to be the poster child for The Terrible Twos. One moment she would be our happy-go-lucky daughter and the next moment she would be so frustrated she would be reduced to tears. Some nights she would scarf down her dinner and the next night dinner would be a battle. Hubs and I just figured that this was all due to the wonderful development phase.

We were wrong.

Little 'Ny has been cutting her two bottom second molars. I discovered them on Monday night when brushing her teeth. They are both about half way out and her upper gums are incredibly swollen. (Poor thing.)

That explains a lot!

Hubs, on the other hand, has had two root canals in the past two weeks. He still has one more to go. And, on Valentine's Day he will have one of his wisdom teeth removed. (Romantic, huh.)

In his late teens / early 20s (pre-Hubs) he was not very diligent with his dental hygiene. So, now he paying the price.

He has been in incredible pain. And, you know men, in public they are pillars of strength, but in their own home they are worse than a 2 1/2 year old. Constant whining and groaning. He is frustrated with EVERYTHING around him.

I feel terrible for him ... I really do. But, I have Little 'Ny I have to teach about the importance of brushing and flossing ALL of her teeth twice a day.

  1. My kids have seen both Daddy and Momma undergo horrendous dental stuff and STILL they're not swayed enough to take care of their teeth. (My constant reminders don't seem to help, either) Now my little one needs two baby root canals!! How the heck do they even perform a root canal on a little guy?!
